MEET THE SANGEET PRATIBHA 2019 TOP SCORERS

Zreyaa

Zreyaa Vinnyraj is class four student at Vydehi School of Excellence,Bengaluru. A thoughtful and kind-hear ted kid,her love for signing  started from her pre school days. She enjo ys singing bhajans,light music and loves movie songs and western music too. Inculcating her inter est for classical music from her father, she has been tr aining under the able guidance of Smt.Lavanya Rupakula for 2 years.

Dr. Madhumanti Chatterjee

She is a dental surgeon by profession., practicing since 8 yrs in Bangalore. She is presently the Founder Director of the Multispeciality Dental Brand “The Tooth Story “.
Music is in her blood. Her father is a reknowned Tablist and professor of Bengal Music College, Kolkata. Her mother is a professional singer.

Her first lessons of music started at home from her parents from her early childhood.
At the age of 6, she started learning the basics of Hindusthani Classical music from Pandit Shyamal Lahiri.
Later on, from the age of 10, her vocal training began under Pandit Ajay Chakraborty, the celebrated exponent of Patiala gharana.
She has been performing in various platforms like television, live shows since the age of 6.
She has won a dozen of music competitions over the years and across the state of West Bengal.
At the age of 13, she received the prestigious “Jugal Srimal” scholarship in Nazrulgeeti and light classical music.
In 2017, she received the “Dipti Dev Memorial Award for Excellence “ in Kolkata.
She relocated to Bangalore in 2014.
Presently,she is associated with Omkar Music Academy. She has been continuing her vocal training under the guidance of Pandit Iman Das.

Rohit

Master Rohit Mukkamala along with his brother Hemant Mukkamala is learning Tabla for the past three years under the able guidance of Sri Nilanjan Dutta, noted Tabla player in Bangalore. Rohit is a budding Tabla player who started learning Tabla with a great enthusiasm. He is currently studying 7th class in GIIS Whitefield school.

Aditya Ganesh

Aditya Ganesh is studying in 8th Grade. Aditya has been learning Tabla for the past 4 years from his Guru Sri. Nilanjan Dutta. Sri.Nilanjan Dutta is a disciple of renowned Tabla maestro Pt. Ravindra Yavagal.

Aditya has been participating in home concerts, small gatherings and few competitions under the guidance of his guru. He was one of the topper in the competition held by Ananda Dhwani Musical Trust in the last 2 years. He is also learning Carnatic vocal and guitar. Other than music, he has keen interest in football and loves to play the game with his friends.

Vishnumaya P

Me, Vishnumaya (8 years) learning vocal(Carnatic) for past two years from Smt. Lavanya Rupakala in AacharyaA music and arts conservatory. I am passion about music and enjoying my music journey. Learning Piano and Veena also in my music journey.

Avishi Gupta

Avishi Gupta is the winner of the second prize in the Hindustani classical vocal competition under the pre teens category.for the year 2019. She is a very talented little girl. She started to learn Hindustani classical music at the age of 3 plus and joined Sanidha school of Music with her Guru Smt. Sushma Sanghi. She is 9 years old and studies in the fifth standard in Vydehi School, Whitefield.

She has been very regular in her Riyaz and has also participated in various singing individual and group performances.She presented her first solo in Hindustani Classical Music in our annual Sanidha concert. She was also recently selected to perform at the Swartal-Jagriti Music festival. She has been a winner for singing in the light music category also in her school. Her dedication and consistency had helped her Secure a Junior Diploma in Hindustani classical music from the prestigious Ravindra Bharati University. She is also a student of Basketball and Bharatanatyam.

Wishing her all the best in her classical music journey and other fields of pursuit.

1. Last year in 2018 she got first prize for talent hunt competition in which she performed bharatnatyam.

2 This year 2019 also she got first prize in talent hunt competition for singing.

Vishruth Gants

Vishruth Ganta is in grade 6 studying in Whitefield Global School. He started learning Carnatic Vocal from Smt. Lavanya Rupakula since 2015. This is the 2nd time participation in Carnatic Vocal competition organized by Ananda Dhwani Music Trust.

KP Pranav

Mihir Ramaswamy

Mihir’s interest in Tabla started at a very young age, he would see his brother-Naren Ramaswamy** playing the tabla and start playing with him. He learnt the basics at an young age of 4 years from his brother. Mihir continued listening to the concerts with complete immersion, observing the artists playing the instrument.

After moving to Bangalore from Delhi, he started learning from Guru Veeranna Hiregoudar since 2016 and has performed in the annual festivals organised for Guru Poornima. He recently completed the Prarambhik Part-2 with distinction in theory & practicals. He hopes to accompany his brother on stage one day.

Mihir comes from a family of musicians, his grand mother is a professionally trained carnatic vocalist by the senior disciple of Semangudi Sreenivasa Iyer.

Mihir is studying in class-7 at Greenwood High International School. He enjoys playing chess and badminton in his free time.

**Naren is a professionally trained Bansuri artist by Pt. Barun Kumar Pal at the Pt. Ravi Shankar centre, New Delhi.

Sarvaananth

Sarvaananth is a child prodigy who is possessing extraordinary adeptness in music. He is a gifted young bud who has got a great support system as his parents who are nurturing his musical abilities. He is getting trained in Carnatic classical vocal from Vidushi Dr .Shwetha from past eleven months. In this short span has exhibited his talent on many of the stages and has won accolades. Sarvaananth is determined and dedicated young talent who is carving a niche in the musical arena.

Siri Hegde

Siri Hegde has been learning Carnatic Vocal from Vid Anjali Hebbar for last 6 years. Siri is a student of Vagdevi Vilas School in Varthur.

Nidhi Bharadwaj

Nidhi is a budding artist.She was born in Austin Texas.Currently studying in 4th grade in Deens Academy Whitefield.She started learning Carnatic and light music at the age of 4 under the guidance of Smt Rama Ramesh M.A .in music(disciple of Sri Chintallavari Subb Rao). Nidhi also started learning Veena from Smt.Sangeetha Srikanth at the age of 7
She has won many awards including Vijaynagar sangeetha sabha ,Heritage Art and cultural fest ,Royal concord school, Iskcon Whitefield .She has always been a top contestant in Gayana Samaja, Bangalore.She is identified as Pillar of her school choir. Nidhi is bold and spontaneous and enjoys being MC. She has hosted multiple cultural events.She is a good swimmer, athlete and artist .She is fondly known by friends and her family members as “All rounder

ALIYA MAITY

Aliya Maity, a 10 year old studying in grade 5 of Euroschool Whitefield, has been learning Hindustani Classical Music for last 1 year under the guidance of Guru Pandit Prabir Bhattacharya.

M.S. YASHAS

Yashas has been learning Carnatic music since the age of 5. He is a 2nd standard student from Asha Kiran Special school. Though he had an aptitude for music since very young age, his journey so far was not an easy one. Consistent support was required to read and then learn lyrics . His music teacher Shri Phaniraj Shivashankar’s sustained support and guidance helped him reach the present standards. Beyond music the only thing that he equally enjoys is relishing tasty food . He is still in the process of knowing and exploring music.

Saumya .P. Munje

Saumya Munje is student of class 9th and has been learning Hindustani Classical Vocal from last 1 year under the able guidance of her guru Dipanwita Mitra mam. Apart from classical Saumya is interested in light music also and stood runner up in the Times NIE competition for 2018.

Aditya Shyam Prasad

Aditya is 12 years now and has been learning Tabla for the past 7 years from his Guruji, Shri Rahul Pophali ji. In his free time, he likes to play cricket and enjoys reading books.

His grandfather Shri Santhanagopalan was a Mirudhangam artist associated with Pune University and his grandmother Smt.Mythili Santhanagopalan was a Carnatic vocalist. He got inspired by his grandfather and by listening to Ustad Zakir Hussain Saheb since he was a baby.

Sonakshi Bhaumik

 Sonakshi Bhaumik is a passionate student of Hindustani Classical . She started her journey in music in the year 2011 at the age of 5 years under the guidance of her first guru Smt. Bedadipta Bhaumik.
Since 2017, she has been learning Hindustani classical music from her guru Smt. Chandrima Sanyal Datta. She has completed Sangeet Vibhakar Part 1 and is actively pursuing and preparing for the advanced courses.
She has performed under the guidance of her guru Smt. Chandrima Sanyal Datta at the music festival Swartaal 2018 at Jagriti theatre.

JHANANI M

Jhanani Mahalingam is a passionate Carnatic Vocalist, Chartered Accountant and a disciple of the legendary musician Late Smt.Ananthalakshmi Sadagopan (Disciple of Sri.Satthur Subramaniya Iyer) for more than 2 decades. She has imbibed a vast repertoire of vintage, classical compositions and Smt. Ambujam Krishna compositions. Since 2011, Jhanani is continuing her advanced musical training from Kalaimamani Smt.Geetha Raja (Disciple of Sangita Kalanidhi Smt.T.Brinda). Jhanani is learning many rare compositions of Trinity, unique Padams and Javalis besides polishing her skills in manodharma sangeetham. She moved to Bangalore in 2017 and is parallelly continuing her musical training from Sangita Kala Acharya Smt.Neela Ramgopal. Jhanani has performed concerts in Tamil Nadu, Bangalore and Pondicherry, which include Shri Krishna Gana Sabha, Narada Gana Sabha, The Music Academy (Spirit of Youth Festival), Arkay Convention Centre, Bharat Kalachar, TTD, Ragasudha, Swami Hall and Pondichery Bhairavi Sabha.

KAVITHA N

Kavitha Narayanan is an ardent Carnatic violinist and a disciple of the living legend Padma Shri Sangeetha Kalanidhi Kum. A. Kanyakumari for more than two decades. Kavitha is an exponent of her Guru’s trademark style of melodious playing and silken bowing. She is continuing to learn and imbibe a variety of classic compositions from a variety of composers. Kavitha is now on a deep-dive into appreciating the musical genius of the Carnatic Trinity – the ingenuity of Muthuswamy Dikshitar, the bhakti rasa of Thyagaraja, and the musical depth of Shyama Shastri’s compositions.

Kavitha, while adhering to the Carnatic music tradition, is also an innovative violinist. Her repertoire is enriched by the fact that she is a trained Western classical violinist as well.
Kavitha has performed concerts in premier Carnatic Music Sabhas including the Music Academy, Krishna Gana Sabha, and Narada Gana Sabha in Chennai. Kavitha has also performed concerts in Singapore including Singapore Fine Arts Society.  While a college student, she was a recipient of the Best Instrumentalist Award in Saarang – the IIT Madras cultural festival.
Kavitha is a senior finance professional and an alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.

SHREYA V MURTHY

Shreya V murthy is an aspiring vocalist who is a deciple of Ustad Faiyaz khan and she is training under him since last 8 years.
Shreya is doing her 11th cbse at sri kumarans children’s Home mallasandra.
She has won several prizes in hindustani vocal conducted by Rotary, SWARASHRI,Classical voice of India and performed at Balbavan for Makkala habba to name a few.
She has secured 93%in junior hindustani classical vocal exam by the Karnataka State Board

NISHI RATNAM

Nishi Ratnam is an MBA from the coveted Indian School of Business, ISB- Hyderabad and has always been an academically inclined student with double majors in operations and Finance. Currently employed with IBM, she has also been extremely passionate about Kathak and Hindustani classical music. She has been learning Kathak since more than a decade and is a student of Shri Raghaw Sah, senior disciple of Pt. Birju Maharaj. Nishi has been performing in many prestigious festivals and is also one of the lead dancers in Shri Raghaw’s repertoire of performances. A mother of a three year old, Nishi also imparts kathak to many enthusiastic students in Prestige Shantiniketan Whitefields

VIHAAN

Vihaan is a student of grade 5. He is referred as a natural musician by his Guru Smt Chandrima Sanyal Dutta from whom He is learning Hindustani classical music for two and a half years.

He loves to listen and sing different kinds of music.His sharp grasp combined with proper practice has helped him to win awards in school and other places.
Vihaan is learning Harmonium from Smt Chandrima Sanyal Dutta and able to play different ragas and bhajans learnt in class.

PRERANA NATH

Prerana is learning Bharatnatyam under the able guidance of Guru Preetha Arun since last 2 yrs.
Prior to that she learnt Bharatnatyam for 3 yrs from Trinity Dance Academy under the guidance of Guru Praveena.
Apart from dancing she shows great interest in baking , choreography, drawing, painting and swimming.
She is currently a 7th Standard student of Baldwin Girls High School

RISHIKA

Rishika Souseelya is a 7 yr old loving and kind child . She started showing interest in music at a very early age of 2 years.She gave her first concert at the age of 3yrs and since then she is always keen to listen to music played anywhere .. In Carnatic music she has learned all the basics called sarili,janta, dhatu,alamkaras geethams and swara jathis by age of 4yrs. Her first guru is late Sri MS Kanthamgaru.Till now she has learned 9 varnams and many krithis from gurus Yanamandra Sri Srinivas sarmagaru and Srimathi Rupakula Lavanyagaru.From past 2yrs she is giving stage concerts as a program starter with guruvandana sthuthi in annamayya sahasra galarchana conducted every year in Hyderabad.. Rishika feels very happy and blessed participating in the competitions held by Ananda dhwani trust.Thanking Ananda dhwani trust for giving her this opportunity.

 ARUSH PANDYA


Aarush Pandya (10) is a student of Ms. Chandrima Sanyal Dutta. He has been learning Hindustani vocal music from her for the past two years and has been immersing himself in the world of svaras and raagas assiduously under her excellent tutelage.

Besides vocal music, Aarush has also been learning to play the piano, an instrument that he truly enjoys.

Aarush has now performed in school programs (both vocal and piano), annual functions for his teacher and also participated in competitions. An all rounder at heart, he also enjoys playing various sports and reading voraciously.

KAHAAN SHROFF

Kahaan, at 9 years of age, is the Spice to the Sugar & Spice with his twin sister Akaisha. He is an avid musician, being under the tutelage of his Guru, Smt. Chandrima Sanyal Dutta since the age of 5 for his Hindustani Classical training. In addition he is learning the piano since the age of 6 at the Bangalore Music Institute. Kahaan studies in Grade 4 at Greenwood High International School where he has also been part of the school band. Other than music, his other deep passion are science experiments (the kitchen is always exploding with the results of his various activities) and his desire to be the next Master Chef (he has his own ‘secret’ recipes book started).

He loves animals, feels deeply and loves being up-to-date on new riddles and jokes that he can try out on friends and family.

He had also participated in Sangeet Pratibha 2018

ANANYA GANESH WITH THE JUDGES

Ananya Ganesh is a 14-year-old studying at The International School of Bangalore. She was initiated into Bharatanatyam by Guru Smt. Preetha Arun, and for the past 4 years she has been learning under Guru Shri Devaruju B.V at the Kalaayana Institute of Performing Arts. Ananya has had the fortune of performing in many notable stages across the country and was part of the Navaratri celebrations in Guruvayur. She has also performed in the Ananthapadmanabaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram and as part of the Sarani Dance Carnival and the Swartaal Music and Dance Festival. She has won several awards in the past, including first place in the Sri Swaanandaashrama Kalamahotsava competition, was awarded the title of “Kadambari Kalakousthubam” by Kadambari Kalakshetra.

She was a top scorer in Sangeet Paratibha 2018 as well!

SARAYU PALUKURI

She is 8 years old and started going for music classes from past 1 and half years. She started showing interest in singing and she is now learning with more interest. Her Guru is Smt Lavanya Rupakula.

SAHANA GIRISH

Sahana Girish, a 7 year old studying in Grade 2 in Deens Academy has been learning music ever since she was 3 year old. She was introduced into formal Carnatic music at the age of 5 under the tutelage of *Guru Smt Vatsala Sai Sampath*.

*Smt Vatsala Sai Sampath* has been teaching carnatic music for more than *50 years*. She hails from a family of musicians. Her *father Shri Pallavi Narasimhachari*, a renowned classical musician has won many titles during his period. He was also the *Guru to Shri K. J Yesudas for his Pallavis

ASMITHA SATHYA NIRANJAN

Asmitha,13, has been learning Bharathnatyam for the past 8 and a half years starting at the age of five. Currently she is learning under the guidance of Guru Smt. Preetha Arun (Student of of Padmashri Kalaimamani Adyar K. Lakshman and Sangeetha Kala Acharya Kalaimamani Smt. Radha) for the past six and a half years.

Workshops attended: Two abhinaya workshops by guru B.Bhanumati and Sheela Chandrashekar  arranged by the Ranjani Fine arts,Sarjapur.( year2018- 2019)

SOWMYA ACHARYA

A graded artiste of All India Radio, Sowmya Acharya is a classical vocalist who has been practicing and performing Carnatic Music for over 20 years. She is a disciple of musical stalwarts, Chitravina Shri N. Narasimhan and Chitravina Shri. N Ravikiran.
Blessed with a melodious and vibrant voice, Sowmya’s musical training started at the early age of 6. She has been deeply involved with music since childhood and started her musical career in 1997 with a well-received debut 3.5 hour concert performance at Singapore with top-ranking accompanying artists. Since 2008, Sowmya has continued her advance training under Maestros Shri Chitravina Narasimhan and Shri Chitravina N Ravikiran. She has imbibed a vast variety of classical styles, techniques and repertoire including advanced laya concepts involving pallavis, padams, javalis, and masterpieces of great composers including Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi. On her Guru’s advice, Sowmya has also trained to play the 21- stringed Chitravina to improve her musical abilities.
Sowmya has performed at numerous venues around the globe including the prestigious Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana, Lotus- Bay Area USA, Singapore Fine Arts, Parthasarathy Sabha Chennai, Unnati Bangalore among others. Sowmya has also released a CD entitled Bharatiyar Songs which has sold 500 copies worldwide.
Academically, Sowmya is a Software Engineer. A gold-medalist with a Masters in Computer Networking, Sowmya switched from a promising career in Tech to being a full-time professional musician since 2005. Her passion for music also led her to establish Acharyanet.com in 2010, a pioneering online service, to preserve and promote Carnatic Music learning traditions in digital format. The reputed online portal includes hundreds of lessons taught by renowned Carnatic Music gurus including Sangita Kalanidhi Shri R. K Shrikantan, Sangita Kalanidhi Shri Trichy Sankaran, Sangeet Samrat Chitravina N Ravikiran, Padma Bhushan Shri P.S Narayanaswamy and others. Sowmya currently resides in Bangalore with her family and her 2 children who are also being trained in Carnatic Music on vocal and chitravina.
